March 18, 2010 in Annapolis was a historic night for the Muslims of Maryland. Over 450 Muslims, Politicians and Government officials attended the First Annual Muslim Legislative Night. Muslims came in drove from as far as Salisbury in East and Hagerstown in West and Cecil County in the North and Charles County in the South. A wide spectrum of Muslim community representing our diversity in the Senate Miller Building.
Governor, Lt. Governor, 7 Department Secretaries 25 Senators and several Delegates including Saqib Ali attended the event. Governor was amazed by the shear number of Muslims in the audience and praised what Maryland Muslim Council has done in Maryland in last 3 years. He also indicated that as a part of the Federal Homeland Security Commission and Vice Chair of the Governors association and he is taking Maryland Muslim Council Partnership with the State of Maryland to other Governors. He and the Lt. Governor praised the leadership of the Maryland Muslim Council under Anwer Hasan and indicated that we have more to gain with this partnership in future
